Pier Park
Panama City Beach's premier open-air shopping and entertainment complex is home to dozens of restaurants, retail shops, a movie theater, and covered walkways that make it perfectly navigable even in a downpour.
WonderWorks
An interactive science and adventure museum that flips education on its head. Inside, guests can experience simulated earthquakes, lie on a bed of nails, navigate laser mazes, and explore hundreds of hands-on exhibits across multiple floors.
Ripley's Believe It or Not
A full afternoon of oddities, interactive exhibits, and the kind of bizarre-but-fascinating displays that make for great conversation at dinner. Ripley's also operates a mirror maze and a 7D moving theater experience in the same complex.
Visual Arts Center of Northwest Florida
Well worth the short drive, the center features rotating gallery exhibitions, local and regional artwork, and occasional live demonstrations. It's a genuinely enriching stop that often surprises visitors, and a welcome change of pace from the energy of the main beach strip.
Duplin Winery Tours
A sprawling, 38,000 sq foot spot built for a rainy afternoon. Guided tastings featuring Suplin’s sweet wines paired with cheese and crackers. There is also a slushie bar, fudge and cheesecake in the sweets shop, and live music often. Cap it off with a Build Your Own Wine Experience for a souvenir.
Point Break Arcade
In historic Downtown Panama City, a retro arcade and bar packed with ‘80s - ‘00s games, one of North Florida’s largest pinball collections, and classic consoles, all free to play. One flat admission gets you unlimited games all day, along with a craft beer and seltzer selection.
Dave and Busters
Part arcade, part sports bars, all indoors. Combines a massive game floor, a full menu, and a wall of TVs. It’s an easy way to burn a few hours without ever stepping outside.
Indoor Golf Simulators
Lounges that let you play famous courses from around the world on a big screen, climate controlled and bug free. Most spots also serve food and drinks, doubling as a hangout even for the non golfers along for the ride.
Live Music
Many of the area's live music venues operate indoors or under covered pavilions, and a rainy evening can actually make for a more intimate, laid-back atmosphere than a packed summer night. Check local venue schedules before your trip and keep a backup plan in your pocket.
Bowling / Minigolf / Go-Karts
Bowling alleys, go-kart facilities with covered tracks, mini golf under shelter, and massive arcades are scattered throughout the area and make for easy, no-planning-required fun
Take a Cooking Break and Lean Into the Condo
One of the biggest advantages of booking a Gulf-front condo rental over a standard hotel room is having a full kitchen at your disposal. A rainy afternoon is the perfect excuse to walk to a local grocery store, pick up fresh Gulf seafood, and spend a couple of hours cooking together.
Plan for the Rain Before You Arrive
Don't schedule every outdoor activity back-to-back, leave a day or two loose so that a shower doesn't derail your plans. Check the weekly forecast when you arrive and front-load your outdoor excursions on the clearest days.
